Snails and slugs
Glasgow, United Kingdom
The grounds are covered in snails and slugs so rather than put chemicals down I decided to gather them up (yuk). I swear i actually heard them screaming or squeeking when I pulled them out of my tubs and off my plants. Anyway I didn't want to kill them so I thought I'll just bin them so I put them in our communal bin but I did feel bad about it. I went into the bin store the next morning to put rubbish in and guess what. Yes they were all over the place, walls doors floors. I've just shut the doors but I really should gather them up shouldn't I. Oh the joy.

Hi,
I am a firm believer in the use of a large pair of scissors and slug pellets. I recently returned to Spain and was stopped by some very large security men when my tescos carrier bag set off alarms, buzzers and lights on the conveyor belt. I was surrounded by about 10 seccurity staff. They upturned my bag as they thought I was taking some liquid through only to find a bottle shaped container containing slug pellets. They all laughed out loud when they realized I was not a smuggler. So yes give me slug pellets every time.

I too hate the thought of killing them and worry about birds being hurt by slug pellets, so i gather mine up and take them for a walk over the fields and woods hopefully they will provide food for the birds and creatures there.

I put a pinch of salt on each of the blighters - this kills them by drying them out and is very satisfying :-)

;) Andrew, I was doing that too but it a bit disgusting so now I just put them in a pot with a lid and then dispose it so I do not see anythigng.
