can you cut back primose leaves without damaging the plant

I don't know if what I am doing it's right but I pull of all the big damaged leaves leaving only the new ones and my primulas and polyanthus and they still giving me some pretty flowers.

I think that July is a good time for dividing them, I tried with a few of them and they look happy.

I cut mine back...:>)

So do I, it doesn't seem to harm them.

I cut mine back every year or so and they are still doing fine.
