suggestions please as to what to plant alongside chrysanthemums in a flower bed that I want to have an oriental feel

At the moment there is a forsythia and a buddlia, I want to brighten it up for my daughters wedding next week so want some instant impact. I thought chrysanthemums would add colour but I'm not sure what else to plant. In the long term I'm planning an oriental feel to the area but short term, anything to make it looked cared for.

The best thing might be to go to a garden centre and see whats flowering and colourful now.
Schizostylis (Kaffir lily) Asters, Heuchera, Cyclamen, autumn flowering crocus, Heathers, yellow daisy types such as Rudbeckia all come to mind. Some lighting too? Enjoy this very special day.

Thanks for your suggestions, as it's still raining a trip to the garden centre might brighten the day.

I am not quite sure what you mean?
Are you after perennial plants or herbaceous plants like chrysanthemums?
You could try patio type lilies that don't grow too tall.
Or grasses see here;
