when do i know potatoes ready to harvest

i put new otatoes that had gone to seed in a large tub they have grown tall and ready to flower,my question is when are they ready for lifting out? thank you nancy kelly

after the plants died back and well after flowering unless you want the small new potatoes for salad.you could move a bit of soil near a plant and have a look and put the soil back afterwoulds
