My hellebores have grown so much they need to be divided - has anyone had success with these in pots?

I live in Roxburghshire in the Scotish Borders. Our garden is partly walled and fairly sheltered. The hellebores have been in for three years and in the spring were wonderful. They are now needing a bit of space and I have so much foliage!

I have had the in very big pots before but i found they were happier in the ground.
