How do I care for my shrub 'The Bride'?
By Hazelnut

I live in Buckinghamshire and our soil is very stoney. This shrub was a gift to me in May 2008. It is in a largish tub and has flowered twice. I feel it is too large for the tub now and would like to plant it in my garden but do not know what area it prefers. Does it like full sun, well drained soil, and would it survive best again a fence (for climbing)? I notice that the green seeds left after flowering turn brown in time, do I cut these off?

It will tolerate most soil types but would obviously appreciate plenty of compost dug in at planting. It likes full sun or partial shade. Pruning should have been done immediately after flowering but yes, I would cut off the seed heads. I wouldn't plant it against a fence as this would restrict its natural arching habit.
