Hmmm...I think it looks like a self seeded foxglove....

Pretty sure that it's Digitalis purpurea (Common Foxglove).

Another vote for foxglove.

If it is not in your way, then what I usually do in cases like this is to leave it a while to see what sort of flower comes out and then you are in with a bit of a chance! I've done quite a bit of that this year as quite a lot of my plant labels in the pots have been washed clean with all this rain even though I used a so called 'permanent marker' and I must say a lot of them looked just like your plant in the beginning -- green with leaves!

Looks like Foxglove, but feel the leaves between finger and thumb - of they're smooth and soft, that's what it is - if they feel a bit hairy and slightly uncomfortable, get it out, it's
a weed with blue flowers I can't remember the name of (one of the speedwells) that is a nightmare to get rid of once its big enough to flower - the roots are white and soft and go down a long way.

That is definitely a foxglove. If you look at the bottom of the leaf stalks on the underside of the leaves, you can tell what colour flower it will have -if there is a purple flush, purple flowers; if not, white flowers :-)

It's quite late now for a foxglove to flower so it may be one which flowers in its second year.I agree with others, leave and see what happens :)
