please why have i got tomatoes growing of potatoe plants

i have potatoe plants which are giving me potatoe but on some of the plants stems seam like tomatoe they are small clumpsof round with tomatoe style leave on top of each one could not belive it so opened one and in side was seed pips like you get in tomators they are still green can you please advise regards ann

And be warned, they are very POISONOUS indeed. Do not under any circimstances eat them. We usually remove the seed pods as they form, it saves the plant using energy to make seeds when it should be making tubers.

Potatoes and Tomatoes are all solanums, if you look at the flowers and fruit, they are all the same. They also have a similar smell. What you are looking at are the seed pods of your potato plants.
