Why are are plums small

Had a good crop of victoria plums for many years, but this year the plums are very small. the stones are a good size and they taste good but are just very small?

You don't say where you live in the UK but it could be that they did not get enough water earlier in the year to produce large plums. We've noticed this with a lot of the wild fruit growing near us.
