about pyrus communis (conference pear)

I have been given a pyrus communis pear tree is is still in the pot and about 4 years old I would love you to give me some advise as how to plant it and also the best erea (shade or sun or next to a granate wall ) its self ferterlising so I've been told and when is the best time to plant it and look after it . Plant it in Autumn time and keep it well watered, you could plant now but watering is definitely the key to success!
