Red dots on the leaves of my Black Tulip magnolia

My tree is fairly new and i have noticed red dots on several of leaves. Ohter leaves look part eaten. I am concerned and was wondering what was happening and how i could prevent it

A pic would be helpful. Maybe a nutrient deficiency rather than a pest or disease, but hard to know!
