Has anyone successfully propogated from daphne bholua? I have one next my south facing front door and neighbours comment on the wonderful fragrance esp. so early in the year. I have requests for cuttings but have been told its not easy with this plant. Has anyone done it?
Many thanks
[in anticipation]

Grafting seems to be the recommended way to propagate this but even then it is deemed difficult. Try it anyway, Mary, if you succeed you can always send me a (rooted) cutting to prove it ;-)))

Thankyou for the advice - I've tried potting up suckers , maybe I can have another go at that. I bought the original plant on the local farmers market and asked his advice. His response was that if I managed to do it please let him know as he needed a supplier!

Yes it is difficult getting it to grow. If all the leaves drop off the cuttings then, apparently , the main plant has a virus and cuttings won't be successful. The virus doesn't seem to harm the plant. Having said this, you may as well try, but wait til early summer.

Yes, but a long time ago when we had a propagating system with mist and bottom heat. The easiest way is to see if you get suckers coming from the roots.
