Hi everyone, I've been filling pots and troughs with spring bulbs this afternoon and am wondering would they be better outside all winter or in the cold greenhouse....what do you think?

Thanks Kildermorie, I was bothered the bulbs would rot if it was too wet, but then it would be the same in the ground wouldn't it? Yes I shall probably bring them in the greenhouse in the depths of winter to keep the roots from freezing...thanks again.

Some sharp sand or gravel under the bulbs, helps prevent rotting,Janey..but I guess you won't feel like digging them up again :o) .

Thanks Bloomer, I did put some grit underneath them, so they should be fine shouldn't they...:))

It might be a good idea to put something under the bottom edges of the pots to make sure they clear the ground and can drain properly in really wet weather - small stones will do.

Outside! they need a cold spell to divide and to arrest growth. With the sunlight hours diminishing if they grow now then they will be too straggly. In very cold weather (say below -5) I would put the pots in a cold greenhouse, but bring them back out again afterward.
