plants with white flowers and lanterns

I planted lots of seeds in my vegetable garden and now have some plants I cannot identify. One in particular is a green leaf plant with small white flowers and lanterns. I thought this was eggplant, but the deer ate it so often that it got real bushy and has not produced any fruit or vegetables. Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks!

Agree with bamboo, they have white lantern like flowers followed by an ornage papery 'lantern' with an orangy-red fruit inside

I guess you could describe solomon's seal as having lanterns too. Pic would definitely be a good idea.

It's just occurred to me that you might mean courgette - they have those yellow lanternish flowers - is that what you mean?
