last 2 years blight on potatoe crop.This year on Lady Balfour small worm like holes in particular. Is spraying required treatment of soil ?

You need to rotate your potatoes from one place to another each year, dig the plot deeply, leave over winter. Do not put in compost/manure when digging, leave that until the spring.
