Removing male flowers on butternut squash

Was wondering whether you should remove the male flowers from butternut squash plants - similar to cucumbers? I have had loads of flowers but over half are male with no fruit. Would removing them prompt more flower production with potentially female fruiting flowers?

Probably not but remove them anyway, to artificially pollenate the female flowers. swipe some pollen from the male stemens onto the female stigma to do it.
