What is eating my pinks?

The flower heads are being eaten before they even have a chance to open.

Most likely carnation totrix moth caterpillars, though they usually restrict their activities to the leaves and stems. Have you noticed any caterpillars? Pick a head off and open it, see if there's one in there. Otherwise, it could be thrips, but that's usually more of a risk under glass.
