Allium Seedheads - will they grow?
By Madwife
United Kingdom
I have some giant allium seedheads which I grew this summer. I don't know the variety name. They're about 12" diameter. The seeds have started to fall. If I collect & plant them, will they grow into new , similar plants. If so, when do I plant them?
Thanks

You should have no problem growing the allium seeds - if the plant is a named cultivar the new plants may be slightly different, but not a lot.
Sow the seeds in a pot of seed compost now and leave over winter. Alliums are bulbs so it will be a few years before they flower.
