another order for plants!

I had an email from J.Parker Bulbs, i have used them before as they have some good offers sometimes, this time it was for 3 Floribunda Roses, 2 called Cliff Richard, fragrant pink and one Scarlet Clusters for the price of postage (£3.95) I also ordered (you have to order to get the offer) 6 trailing million bells Flamingo for £3.95 with that i also got 1 Pulsatilla collection pack of 6 I didn’t think that was bad for £7.90, as i can’t cope with shops because of the Menieres i do all my ordering on line so am out of touch with prices to be honest. I could have spent a lot more but reined myself in!!! LOL

these were from J.Parker, last year

Sounds very nice. I would expect Pulsatillas to be at least a couple of pounds each in garden centres.

Great invention, ordering on the net, isn't it. Well done - I hope they arrive soon. Those Alliums look wonderful, by the way! Do you know what species they are?

I like parkers too, I have some great plants over the years. one order of lilies arrived stuffed into too small a box and a good 60% were damaged. I rang to air my concerns and they sent me replacements for the damaged ones plus 25 free daffs and 25 free tulips. they also told me to plant the damaged ones as they would probably grown and flower next year. I did know this but expected Parkers to ask for their return. I have also found VanMeuwen a good company to deal with.

I love pulsatillas. I couldn't grow them in the other garden but I hope to try here. Maybe I'll try and order them from J Parker Bulbs. I hope you're satisfied with your order.

They're not bulbs. They flower in the spring. They're lovely spring flowers. I think you'll like them.

Are you familiar with the name Pasque Flower? That is the same plant.
I am going to Dunblane tomorrow for a club bulb show and lecture day. It will be great to meet old friends after the winter lay off. The only trouble is that there will be about eight plant sales tables in the hall £££££££. I definitely won't get six for £7!

Hi Sewingkilla, do I understand that the pulsatilla are still lying around? They are a tap rooted plant and should be planted as soon as possible - don't let them dry out. They will make a bushy plant about a eighteen inches high and across and then they die right back in autumn. You should tidy the dead foliage up in winter ready for next years growth. Good luck.

Haven't got them yet bulbaholic, only put the order in yesterday but thanks for the info, would they be happy in shade?

19 Feb, 2009

They would prefer a sunny site but will tolerate partial shade. Preferably not deep shade.

Oh Swngk....those alliums are gorgeous. Such a vivid purple colour. Love it.
You did do well with your purchases. What a great deal. 3 roses for the price of postage?? Wish I could find some deals like that here.

Hi Sk, I gave in an ordered some more from JParkers when I saw the email. By just looking at the latest offers, I've spent £15 inc P&P and should receive about 30 plants, including the 3 free roses, 6 pusatillas and two shrubs! Amazing value for money. In fact I think the plant that cost the most is a Deutzia 'Strawberry Fields' for £2.45!
I just can't wait for them to arrive now.
