All my broad bean pods disappeared overnight

Could squirrels be responsible for picking all my broad bean pods? I grew my beans in toilet rollsand compost, then planted them out with open ended plastic bottles over them to keep off slugs. They flowered well and produced lots of pods which filled well. Then one morning nothing was left on the pods but the stalks from which they hung. Could this be squirrel damage too?

I'd say mice rather than squirrels but both will eat the beans, particularly if they are left late on the stalk. We harvest all ours over a month ago
