How can I get My African Violet to flower?

That's just what I'm trying to do too Lellis, my African violet has just finished flowering, so it's enjoying a rest right now. I think I may need to change the compost, but I'm leaving that till spring. I keep mine on the kitchen window sill, in a small pot and stood on damp pebbles. I use water from a filter to keep them damp. If you use tap water, leave it for an hour to let the chlorine gas escape.

Mine are on a north windowsill and flower nearly all the time. They haven't been repotted for ages but they do get a very occasional dose of liquid feed, and are always watered from the bottom.

Thats a good point Stera, mines in a shallow dish and I water from the bottom too, helps to stop the leaves going soft and mouldy

Ideal conditions for these are,, loamless well drained compost, bright filtered light, moderate to high humidity,
a temperature of 64-75 deg f.
For them to flower in winter, you need the maximum light available, {you may need to use grow lights}.
Feed from early to late summer with a high potash and phosphate, liquid fertilizer every 2 weeks, repot at least once a year, keeping to more or less the same pot size, do not overpot, Derek.
