UNKNOWN BUSHES IDENTIFIED

Harli

By Harli

The mystery of the ugly bushes is over. They are beautiful and are Japanese Iris. I have tons of these.
They kind of look like a water plant but they aren't near water. Im so glad I listened to you about waiting and see what they were before destroying them.

Iris sibirica rather than Iris kaempferi which is more commonly the one known as Japanese Iris. I. sibirica will grow almost anywhere, whereas I. kaempferi does need water at the root to survive. Ours grow in a very wet part of the garden.

I like the colour, Harli. Mine are a paler blue, no white.

Will these bloom once each year? At what point can I cut them down so I don't have those huge brown clumps in the yard?

How do I say thanks?
