Should I cut back the leaves on my tall bearded irises now . They were planted last year and didnt flower last summer.

I never cut mine down. in the spring I remove dead leaves and then let them grow.
are they in full sun? and is the fleshy rhizome on the surface.? They need to be like this so they 'bake' in the sun and 'set the flower' for next summer.
