Hi I'm putting forward a contemporary show garden for the Chaumont in France, it's for college, I study in England, does anybody know of some sprightly ornamental grass that I could use in this region?

How about Festuca glauca 'Elijah Blue'?? It's low growing, but a beautiful colour, and it has a spiky look.

I would have thought that just about any ornamental grass that you can grow in Dublin would do equally well in France? Your college library will have books on grasses I am sure.

True. Why didn't I think of that, Sid?

No - I've been reading the consultation document for the new Power Station, all 265 pages of it on line - and I'm boggle-eyed and brain dead! :-((((

Should I come up with some more grasses, then, do you think? I do have a few...just a few...in my garden! LOL.
OK...Carex trifida 'Rekohu Sunrise' - wonderful, large arching stripy leaves.
Carex brunnea 'Jenneke' - more delicate, much smaller but still variegated
Carex buchananii - brown grass!
Carex morrowii 'Ice Dance' - likes shade, spreads. Dark green, pale stripes.
Stipa arundinacea - slim leaves, an orange-y colour, mound-shaped - needs sun
I do have more - but I'm getting tired!
These are all evergreen ones.

Approximate height, as in small medium or large might help to narrow the range and give members more idea of what to recommend.

Aw, poor boggle-eyed and brain dead Barbara... ;-) You're not having a power station built near you are you?

Now how DID you guess, Sid??

Really?! Oh dear........................ and did the consultation doc makes things any clearer? I think I can predict the answer to that........

CRYSTAL clear, Sarah - so much detail! - but after all the seemingly 'open' answers at all the meetings we've been to - they've reneged on the promises made there.

Oh dear - is the proposed site close by? Sorry - is there a better place for these comments - don't want to annoy Scdcreations!

It's a damned disgrace Sarah! I've been trawling through the same docs.

I'll PM you, Sarah.
