I have just laid turf today, dig over the area and remove any rubbish, bricks etc. Get a tilth on the top, level out and lay your turf. If there is any discoloured turf through the winter, this can be replaced. As you are in Wales, you should stay mild until Christmas. You will enjoy a new lawn before Easter.

if it stays mild then yes but the weather forecasters say we are in for a cold spell. I think i'd leave it until spring. it will give the soil a chance to stabalise and resettle. also gives you a chance to remove all debris from the building site. Also time for any lime from the mortar to be washed away.
