Sorry Spritz. It was a Lilac bare root that i got 2 days ago. I put it here to start it off and then come spring move it into the ground :-) Hope your well by the way :-)

In answer to the question. no it should be fine. it will have been in the ground at t&m. Keep it in the lea of a wall to protect the pot/roots from the worst of the frost.

yes sounds good but dnt forget the pot may not get much rain , so check on the watering regularly.

Agreed. :-)) It doesn't need covering, but watch that the pot (and therefore the roots) doesn't freeze in cold weather - some bubble-wrap round it would work.

It would be safer in the ground as the roots could freeze in the pot. As Seaburngirl said, it came out of the ground at T&M.
