This is a Protea cynaroides that I used to have in a pot in the back garden. After the flowers went, my neighbour watched a squirrel sitting on the fence eating a massive flower head! And yes... the Abbey Gardens on Tresco IS the best garden in Britain for its protea and banksia terrace......

You can add a link to your photo in your answer. I suggest you open GOY twice, one page with the question you want to answer and the other with your photo on. Copy and paste the link that is the page where your photo is and copy it on to the answer

I tried to tag these photos onto the end of the Protea ID question - but it ended up as a "question" itself - which it actually isn't.....
