Indoor orchid - I hope somebody can help me. I've no experience with orchids whatsoever but was given a phalaenopsis 3 days ago as a gift. Already it looks as though it is starting to wilt and a bud fell off.
I only just discovered that they are not to watered frequently and doing so can kill it. (I have been watering it for the past two days with orchid food thinking I was helping!)
It was water-logged so I emptied the water from it's pot and have left the plant-pot in the sink to drain off excess water.
Is there any other way I can help it? Do you think over-watering is the reason it's looking a bit miserable?
Thank you for any help you can offer.

I wrote a blog on October 28th about Orchid care. To read it, click on my 'dog' picture, then on 'blogs' and to 'October' in the archive list. I hope it helps.
Good luck.

If it is a Phalaenopsis I could give you lots of advice but check Spritzhenry's blogs as she has a lot of sound advice on growing orchids... do not, repeat not water the plant until you have read her advice!

Probably overwatering and overfeeding is not helping. If you did not get a care label with it go in to any Garden Centre and read the label. Never leave it standing in water. I keep water in an old plastic milk bottle for watering my plants. The heat in the kitchen takes the chill off it and in my limited experience plants do not like fresh tap water.
