I have a hedge that about 6 feet high and 3 feet wide. My neighbour thinks it is a EURONOMOUS or something like that. It has become infested with a million tiny white things on the leaves and a bunch of NUT CLUSTER typs things. The tiny white things have sucked the life out of it and it is all but dead. Can it be saved.?

Thanks Don Summerton

Possibly Euonymus. The only pest I can find is a European one, so not likely in Canada.

could the white pest by a form of white fly? The cluster of nut like thinks could be a plant gall from other insect damage.
any chance of a photo of the 2 conditions?

You could try spraying with an appropriate insecticide and then prune the shrub to see if you can stimulate it to re sprout new growth.

The phot would also confirm what it is. if it is Euonymous then that responds well to a good prune anyway.

Hi Don, they are white fly and the growth is a plant gall. you can spray for the white fly and just prune the gall out.

Any idea what kind of spray I should be using.?

a systemic one is better as it is absorbed by the plant and then when the sap sucker sucks it gets poisoned. I dont know what is available to you though. your local garden centre should be able to advise.
