I am going to have a go at growing Celery what sort should I get self blanching or the trenching variety I have read that both are difficult to grow and the are pros and cons to both so any input would be great.

We've tried growing celery in the past, and wouldn't bother again, but this year we're going to try growing celeriac instead. I've heard it's supposed to be much easier.

I have never grown celery, I think if I was going to I would go for the trench type, I think the stuff grown by commercial growers must be the self blanching type, but it always looks almost as green as grass to me, instead of a nice off white colour.
Celery is good if you're trying to lose a bit of weight, as you use more calories eating it than it contains, Derek.

I grow Parcel. It is a leafy substitute that tastes exactly like celery without those mushy chunks. It is extremely easy to the point where it could get invasive. It's also long lived - my original plant is 5 years old and still going strong. It also doesn't need all the water normal celery does.
