Germinating Strawberries from Seed
Does anyone have any experience of germinating F1 strawberries from seed? I tried and failed twice now and wonder what I am doing wrong. The instructions were to sow thinly on the surface of pre-watered compost at 20° but so far this has not been successful. All suggestions welcome!

Thanks Andy. Maybe I haven't been patient enough then, I assumed 10 - 14 days for germination. I used a propagator with a lid so they got bottom heat and high surrounding heat and humidity. Did you cover your seeds or just place them on a heat mat or similar?

yep, grew loads 2 years ago very successfully. Did just what you did and they were fine...mine had bottom heat though.
They are fairly slow growing and take up to a month to germinate.
