Has anybody pruned their roses yet. I am afraid mine might not survive as I pruned mine before the really bitter weather today.

I did mine last week....so pleased that I don't have 4000!
Ran out of time so didn't scratch in Rose food & now we have snow & freezing temps. Ah, well maybe next week.

I did most of mine in the autumn because they were all very sick with blackspot. I did the rest last week. Andy is right...they are tough!

They'll be absolutely fine - I always cut them back a bit in autumn, and then do a proper prune last week of February or first week of March, regardless of the weather. Feeding, though, should not really be done before April.

With the expert advice given above; My offering seems superfluous.
I 'half prune' in autumn and hard prune in late winter - Last week of Feb or first week of Mar. This is approximate.
As said, Roses are a tough old bunch, they have been at it for years and are starting to get the hang of things.
There are some to take a chainsaw to roses and trim them down to a foot or so high.
Some people lavish days of slavish-like devotion to their shrubs. As each bud appears its position as to the potential growth, is scrutinised and analysied to within fractions... Any two stems that should approach each other will be dealt with by cutting out the least sutable...
I say - go for it!
But just to say that is just not me; I have to use thirty words where three will do..

Pruned all 4,000 of ours in autumn. Yours will be fine, roses are as hard as nails and can take a severe winter. As long as you don't prune them during a frozen snap, there shouldn't be any probs.
