It is indeed quite adaptable to most conditions but not saturated soils. Just make sure you add plenty of compost or leaf mould when planting as this is the preferred conditions for its roots. It can take full sun too.

I have it in semi shade with lots of leaf mould, so it is relatively moist but not waterlogged.

I have one in full sun and it performs well....
