Can anyone give me any ideas on how to grow Okra (Ladies Fingers) please. I have tried growing it in the Greenhouse and it starts of very well and then just as it is maturing it just wilts and gradually dies. I am not sure whether it perhaps needs a dry atmosphere and plenty of heat. Any help would be appreciated.

This is a plant grown in the tropics, and although it is a perennial, is usually grown as an annual in the uk for summer bedding, if you want to keep it over winter, you need a minimum temperature of 41 deg f, Derek.

Thanks for the advice, I think I will try starting it off in the Greenhouse and then transfer it outside under a cloche. If we get a decent Summer I can always remove the cloche. Thanks again.

I'm no expert Sirwolf, but I think your Okra would be happier outside: once established (and with a little sunshine as you imagined) it will spread easily.
