I have an Acer in a large pot on my patio. In recent years it has bloomed magnificently. This year however the leaves that have come out are sickly looking, pale colour and with black edges (reminiscent of over watering indoor plants). Also there are many bare branches where leaves should be. Any ideas please?

I have one in a pot and has been in the same pot for many years, but it really needs re potting as its roots split the pot in half last season,if they get really pot bound its difficult for water and feed to penetrate. I shall be re potting mine and suggest you do the same with some quality compost.
