My children grew up with them in one area of our garden from 0-10 12 years of age, they came to no harm and loved playing games such as hide and seek among them. Presumably you know your soil type?

As with most poisonous plants they're ok if you don't eat them!! It is very rare indeed for kids to eat plants in the garden - many common plants would be poisonous if we ate them!

Hoya's right, more than 50% of what we commonly grow in our gardens is poisonous if ingested - teach kids not to eat any parts of plants and when they're older, tell them which ones they can eat, if you have any.

They are OK as long as you teach the children not to trample on them and break them.
