Thanks again for the help.
I went to a large Wyevale garden centre yesterday, armed with a branch of the plant in question. " Who's the plant recognition expert " I asked of these 4 guys standing chatting, (with the branch behind my back.)
" that'll be me" said 1 of them, standing to his full height.
I produced the branch and he studied it for a while, then decided to go look in a book.
To cut a long story short he hadn't a clue until I told him what I had so far. Then he was full of confidence - " Oh Yes" he said- " definitely a weigela ". No mention of Praecox !

Sad they don't know,but that's true in most garden centres these days

I think it is a weigela but don't know which one it is.
