I have a friend whose having the same trouble but in the opposite direction. The previous owners left bamboo in the garden and now its invading next door and there's nothing he can do about it because it keeps growing back and going under the fence. Ditto Stera, I wondered what had happened to Nosey.

Bamboo only sends out runners to a depth of 12inches max. So a barrier to that depth is all that you need.
Do you know what type of Bamboo it is? Sasa is bad for running but it is easy to use the strimmer on it.

I had bamboo in my garden and ended up digging it out, I found it quite easy to do, I would dig it out and dig down and add a barrier to stop it coming back through seeing the rooting spreads outwards. Hope you get it sorted ok :o))
