Agree with Derek much to late to be getting tomato plants going, they should have set fruit by now.

You may find an odd bush one still in a gc or nursery that hasn't
sold and has toms on and Tesco were selling chilli plants with fruit on, just have a look.
Try putting a few things in there like geraniums or tender flowering plants, they can give a pretty display quite late on
You could also get some small spring bulbs later this month, put them in pots and leave in the garden until the first frosts, then hopefully you will have flowers in there before the garden, if its a bad winter wrap the pots in bubble wrap though as cold greenhouses can freeze
Most of all have fun!

Thanks for your replies, it is what I expected really! I read somewhere you can grow cut & come again lettuce over winter in the garden, any thoughts on that?

Then you have all the fun over the winter months deciding what to grow.....take it steady for a start.......I for one can get carried away with seed catalogues! But buy young plants at the g/c or nursery and grow them on ....

Hi, welcome to g o y, the short answer is yes, that is unless you want to grow them through the winter with lots of heat, and grow lights.I think you would be better off getting the borders dug, and compost, manure etc added, ready for next years tomatoes, Derek.
