I have planted a climbing rose Zephirine Drouhin, in my garden, it is mostly in full sun, south west facing, on the corner of my house which gets a nice breeze, I have been told that this can be prone to black spot, what can I do to avoid getting this on it?

Spray it when the leaves are first out, before any spots appear, and again later in the season if necessary.

its a fungal disease so you can spray with 'rose clear' as instructed on the packet or any other fungicide recommended for roses/black spot. if you spot any signs of it on the leaf pick them off and don't compost , bin or burn. Prune any damaged stems in spring and spray fungicide then too. [according to the RHS pests book]
so far mine has not shown any signs and I'm not far from you :o)
