do my red peppers turn red the longer I leave them out in the garden or do I bring them in and put them onto the window sill they are green at the moment

They change colour as they ripen and are probably best left on the plant unless the weather changes dramatically.

All peppers start out green and change colour as they mature. Some go through other colours before they become red, i.e yellow, purple. They need to be on the plant to become red. You can pick some while they are green if you want. A lot of green peppers sold in the shops are what you could term as unripe red peppers.

didn't you like my answer to the question then? :o)))

There are some that ripen to yellow/orange or purple. the purple ones were grown by the girls when they were little as a quirky 'get them interested' plant.
