Limited space, want containers to have colour all year. Can I put in bulbs now with winter bedding on top, so that as bedding fades, bulbs will be growing? Then clear pots and put in summer bedding?

You can plant the bulbs in two layers too - early ones nearer to surface and later ones deeper. (But sometimes the deeper ones do hurry along a bit and wreck the plan!)

Many thanks. I'm enthusiastic but not knowledgable !

You could mix autumn flowering crocus such as C. kotschyanus and C. speciosus for September/October, some snowdrops for later in the winter, small spring crocus and some of the smaller daffodils for almost all winter bulb flowers.

I have some large pots with daffs low down and I have geraniums over the top in the summer, seems to work.

Yes you can do that Archierose. Plant the bulbs deeply enough and you will be able to plant the summer bedding on top of them.
