My Gladioli bulbs have come up blind. Will they flower next year or should I throw them away?

feed them before the foliage dies down. If they are congested then lifting and replanting spaced out about more will help. It has also been quite dry so lack of watering may be an issue too.

The advice is to lift Gladioli bulbs as they tend to rot in wet, cold conditions. If you add lots of drainage and plant deeply then they are hardy. I have found that:
Not lifting gives better growth and more flower
Sunniest positions give better flowering success and less blind ones.
They do need that rare thing, dampish free draining soil in summer.

Have they been in the garden for a long time? Mine have only just started to bloom after being in the garden for 2 years.
