Hi Basia, as Lancashire is not in Scotland (at least, not the last time I looked) I am not sure just where your garden is.
Tree ferns grow well on the west coast of Scotland, eg at Inverewe Gardens, due to the Gulf Stream. The rest of us have to give them some protection in winter in the form of frost fleece etc.

I live in Glasgow and we need to protect them.

Do you mean a Scottish themed garden?

Hello Basia ... welcome to GoY ..

GoY profile of Basia

My name is Basia, I am an artist and a fresh gardener.
I live in Glasgow and have tiny garden which is in the process of building. I love colours of flowers and evergreen bushes ... to have even smallest pound would be nice! next year I hope to finish my project ...with help of lovely fellow gardeners from sites like this one!

... possibly meant to put county as Lanarkshire, not Lancashire ?

I hope this helps ..
