I think it's a Sempervivum .. . low growing, prefers well-drained soil, but easy (i.e. no special care).

Er, now I think it looks more like an Aeonium than a Sempervivum. Or perhaps an Echeveria.
Either way, well drained compost in a sunny positiion with sparse watering. House plants rather than garden ones.

I agree with Owdb an Aeonium

Is it not a Crassula? Someone brought me one back from Majorca where they grow as a weed and it looks the same as mine.

I think Owdboggy is right . . . sorry to be misleading!

Aeonium is a Crassulaceae Myron, one of the 35 species.

Well I didn't know that. It's nice to know that my mate wasn't lying to me though. He once went to South Africa, brought me back what he said was an uncut rare diamond worth a lot of money. It turned out to be a piece of glass that had been found on a rubbish dump that had melted when they set fire to it.

How do I say thanks?
