Spain

do you advise growing a lemon tree in a pot

It will be happier in the ground but can be grown in a pot if you are prepared for the extra work

All trees do better in the ground as they will grow more vigorously, produce larger trees, produce more fruit, and not be so susceptible to under or over watering. You are lucky to be in Spain where you have the choice! Ours is currently looking very woe-begone in the conservatory, with black mould over the leaves from mealy bug!

You might be able to buy a dwaft variety that would be better suited to growing in a container.
