Made me laugh anyway, hortum cret - I guess buxom's a good description if you visualise a rounded box spilling out over the edges of a pot!

Ireland tends to have a milder winter than the island of GB, so I would assume it will be totally hardy in a pot.

Breast assured, it will survive the winter, figuratively speaking of course ;o)

Hi Jureklapot,
They are fine outside. I have 2 which have been standing on the patio for years.

I planted two buxus many years ago. When I told the nursery man I planned to put it in a pot which we had built from stone using a recycled cold water tank from the attic as a liner, he said forget the liner, allow the plant to sink deep roots so that it can access water even if there is a deep ground frost. Fingers crossed they have not been a problem. They are in a cold windy position, he recommended spraying them with the stuff you get to retain the leaves on Christmas trees brought in to the house. I only did that for the first year.

Erm, I'm wondering if you mean Buxus, commonly known as Box? If you do, no you don't need to keep it frost free, it's hardy.
