can holly leaf miner be treated~ The RHS site appears to state that it it doesn't harm the plant but wouldn't be too sure and it looks awful~ any advice please?

Ny Pests and Diseases book says that treatments are ineffectual on holly because of the slightly waxy coating on the leaves, so it seems there is indeed no remedy. Of course, DoctorBob might have an answer - if he doesn't see this, maybe you should ask him.

Could you control the numbers by cutting off affected leaves and squishing Arlene,or are there too many ?

~there is quite a lot of damage on the plants in the back garden but none on the plants in the front!~if there is no treatment I will try to cut off the worst affected leaves but there are quite a lot~
