Bascially a bee flight!
Many years ago two very 'innocent' old ladies bought two Skimmia (male and female). They were not certain about the birds and the bees so they planted them in the same hole with their roots entwined, much to the amusement of the nursery man who sold them the plants.

they have to be within 200yds from eachother, no more, and only the female will get berries, also berries only grow on two year growth so dont prune back to much because you may cut off the new growth
