I think Heuchera too. We used to call it London Pride.

Sorry to be a pain, Chris, but London Pride isn't a Heuchera. It's a Saxifrage - Saxifraga x urbium. You will probably hate me now - :-(

It looks a very strong Heuchera, could it possibly be a Ligularia?

I was doubtful as to Heuchera, too.The leaves aren't quite right - they are growing more upright somehow, and appear quite large - are they? I think you will have to wait for the flowers!

No I don't hate you Spritz. I don't mind being corrected. I'm no expert. I always get confused betreen saxifrage and heuchera.

I think it looks like Ligularia......

I would say Ligularia looking at leaf shape and slug damage.
I will also add it is a nice size. It should throw up a tall flower spike of yellow flowers, if it is a Ligularia.

I think Ligularia too. Possibly dentata 'desdemona' variety judging by the maroon coloured backs of the foliage. If so you'll get daisy like flowers on tall stems in mid to late summer. The common name's Golden groundsel. But whatever it is you need to get some slug repellent around it or those lovely leaves will soon get shredded. It looks gorgeous at the moment.

Oops! My Ligularia on the stream bank has holes in the leaves - must protect it if snails and slugs like it!

« having a poinsetta that has survived since xmas, how do you propagate them
I think it's a Heuchara. I have 2 similar in my front garden. If it is, it will have tall spikes of tiny pretty flowers rising up from beneath the foliage. Have you noticed any spikes on it yet?
